FAIRMONT — Floriene Nolte, 90, of Fairmont, Minn., died May 17, 2019, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa. A visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn., with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be served after the service, and a private family burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fairmont; Martin County Historical Society, Fairmont; or the charity of your choice.

Floriene LeVonne Johnson was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Ellis and Theresa (Janssen) Johnson. She graduated from Truman High School in 1946.

Floriene was united in marriage to Vernon Arthur Nolte on June 3, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Truman, Minn. Two sons were born to this union.

Floriene worked for Fairmont Railway Motors until her marriage to Vernon. She then worked for Dr. Roscoe Hunt until the birth of her first son. Later in life, she worked for the Fairmont Community Hospital.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Martin County Historical Society, Interlaken Country Club, and several bridge groups. Floriene was very involved with her church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, serving as chairman of the funeral committee for 25 years, and the leader of her church circle for 20 years. She was the first curator at the Martin County Historical Museum.

Floriene was very supportive of her two sons, and attended all of their activities. She cherished her granddaughter and enjoyed golfing on Grandmothers Day at the club.

In recent years, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.

Above all else, Floriene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved spending time with those close to her.

Floriene is survived by her two sons, Christopher (Jean) Nolte of Winterset, Iowa, Robert (Suelin) Nolte of Mankato, Minn.; two sisters, Avis (Duane) Hunstad of Hastings, Minn., Ardis Petterson of St. James, Minn.; granddaughter, Sarah Nolte of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Johnson Flynn, Pat Johnson; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Theresa Johnson; husband, Vernon Nolte; a daughter in infancy; four brothers, DeWayne (June) Johnson, Delmar Johnson, Glenn (Marge) Johnson, Jerry Johnson; brother-in-law, Ronald Petterson; eleven sisters-in-law; and 10 brothers-in-law.
