FAIRMONT — A memorial service for Louis Bulfer, age 77, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Fairmont, with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222.

Louis passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 2, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the St. John Vianney Endowment Fund.

Louis Bulfer was born Nov. 13, 1941, to Louis Sr. and Mary (Angstrom) Bulfer. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1960 and moved to Arizona in April of 1963. Louie entered the U.S. Army in 1963 as a helicopter crew chief. He was honorably discharged in late 1966 after serving for three years.

He was the owner of Bulfer Construction, a farm drainage contractor. Louie later owned 10th Street Car Wash for 25 years. He also raised purebred angus cattle for many years and supported the 4-H program for 50 years.

Louie and Margaret were married in 1967 at St. Williams in Shelbyville, Tenn. They were blessed with three children: Daniel, Philip and Sarah.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Herrin) Bulfer; children, Daniel (Jenny) Bulfer, Philip (Amber) Bulfer, and Sarah (Jason) Tony; grandchildren, Joshua Bulfer, Jay Bulfer, Madeline Bulfer, Ella Bulfer, Demitrios Kalomiros, Alexander Kalomiros; brothers, Charles (Kathleen) Bulfer, Joseph (Aloma) Bulfer, Thomas (Paula) Bulfer, Edward (Karin Schultz) Bulfer, Patrick (Joyce) Bulfer; sisters, Rosalie Bulfer and Margaret (Paul) Galloway; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Mary Bulfer.
