FAIRMONT — Memorial services for David D. Olson, 70, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date. Dave passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 3, 2019, at his home in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

David Douglas Olson was born Oct. 8, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Richard Olson and Margaret Hall. At age 5, David was admitted into the Lake Owasso Children’s Home. From there, he resided at Faribault County Regional Center for 36 years until joining the REM family in Fairmont in 1992. David enjoyed his job at STEP, where he did a variety of jobs, including crushing cans.

He loved going for walks, van rides, going out to eat, getting his hair cut and listening to music. He always knew how to put a smile on your face with his infectious laugh and mischievous antics. David especially loved having one on one time with the REM staff and “horseplay.” David was loved by all who knew him and will be missed dearly.

David is survived by his mother, Margaret Hall; sister, Becky; cousin, Jan Sanden; as well as his REM and STEP families.

David was preceded in death by his father, Richard Olson.
