TRUMAN — Betty Ann Kaelberer, age 77, of Truman, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at her home under the care of hospice. A celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Antrim, with Pastor Mathew Rusert officiating. Interment will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Antrim, rural Truman.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman.

Betty was born March 6, 1941, near Massena, Iowa, to Marvin and Loine Russell. She graduated from Cumberland H.S. in Iowa and received her teaching certificate from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Neb.

She married Jerome Kaelberer on June 29, 1962. Betty touched many lives through her teaching as a preschool, elementary and piano teacher. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook.

She gained strength and comfort through a firm faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Her joys included reading, playing cards and board games, quilting, scrap booking, and being a spectator at the many sporting events of her kids and grandkids.

Betty is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerome; sons, Jerrold (Dorie), Mark (Rhonda), Kent (Amy), Jay (Charity); daughters, ReNae (Bob) Tangen, and Lynn (Lonny) Becker; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild (with two more on the way); three brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews. Betty will be greatly missed by her best friend, Glenni Urban.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful personnel involved with her care from the Mayo Hospice Program South Team and friends for the many phone calls, cards, and visits which she enjoyed so much.
