TRUMAN — Deloris L. Kastning, age 90, of Truman, formerly of Fairmont, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Heartland Senior Living in Truman. A memorial service was held Feb. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Fieldon in Lewisville.

Deloris was born July 9, 1927, in Blue Earth County, Minn., to Arthur and Marie (Urban) Pahl.

She married Bruce Kastning on July 27, 1950, and together raised two children. She was a homemaker, mother and wife for most of her life.

She enjoyed camping, bike riding and baking; specializing in chocolate chip cookies and rolls. She was a very practical person, often giving socks instead of birthday cards. She knitted and sewed many gifts as well. She had a passion for her garden, picking her beautiful flowers and canning many vegetables. She had a love for her Minnesota Vikings, no matter the score.

She was a devoted Christian, daily reciting morning and evening prayers that included the words from Away in the Manger, “Be near me Lord Jesus: I ask Thee to stay close by me forever and love me I pray. Bless all the dear children (people) in Thy tender care, and take us to Heaven to live with Thee there.”

Deloris is survived by her daughter, Deb (Pat) Hassing of Winnebago; son, Wayne (Pat) Kastning of Walker; grandchildren, Heidi Denn, of Madelia, Alicia (Jeff Larson) Hassing of Russell, Skylar (Whitney) Kastning, Tanner Kastning all of Walker; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Denn of LuVerne, and Austin Denn of Madelia; great-great-grandchildren, Brantley and Sophia Swenson of LuVerne; sister-in-law, Cordelia Pahl; cousin and best friends for many years, Gladys Belgard of Truman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce; brother, Wilmer Pahl; and sister and brother-in-law, Elta and Ervin Tetzloff.

In lieu of flowers, direct donations to Martin Luther High School, Northrop, or Immanuel Lutheran Church School in Walker.
