CENTRALIA, Mo. — Jeff Sukalski, 64, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at his home in Centralia, Mo. A memorial last call will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the Centralia Fire Station in Centralia. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia.

Jeff was born Aug. 5, 1953, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Edmund and Betty (Olson) Sukalski. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years in England, Germany and Florida. He retired in the rank of MSgt. During his active duty career, he served in fire protection as a firefighter moving up the position of Chief. His Civil Service career was also in fire protection serving as Fire Chief in Texas, Kansas, and Missouri. In total, he served in fire protection for over 41 years with over 16 year as Fire Chief. His total focus was on his family and his career.

He worshipped our Lord in the Catholic faith and at First Baptist Church, a member of the A&P Sunday School class.

His motto in his fire career was, “We can only make the rescue. It is up to God whether they live or die.” His primary concern was “the rescue” and the safety of his firefighters.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Loraine Sukalski of Centralia, Mo.; son, Thomas Sukalski and wife, Sara; daughter, Ashley Sukalski of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Micah Sukalski of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Katelyn, Micaela, Bethany Sukalski of Chicago, Ill.; stepdaughter, Katie Lockwood and husband, Jason; stepgrandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Shaelyn Lockwood of Centralia, Mo.; brothers, Greg Sukalski and his wife, Carol, of Fairmont, Minn., Brad Sukalski of Fairmont, Kevin Sukalski and his wife, Sue, of Fairmont, Robert Sukalski of Fairmont; sisters, Nancy Fetters and her husband, Chris, of Fairmont, Kathy Predmore and her husband, Bruce, of Rochester, Minn., Debbie Lutz and her husband, David, of Fairmont, Jenny Sukalski of Fairmont, Lisa Tonne and her husband, Dennis, of Fairmont; sister-in-law,  Laurie Sukalski of Fairmont; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by parents, Edmund and Betty Sukalski; brother, Stephen Sukalski; two infant brothers; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Centralia, in care of Fenton Funeral Chapel, 104 S. Collier Centralia, MO 65240.
