Susan Ruth (Stallcop) Wilson was born May 1, 1948, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Gilbert “Pete” and Ruth L. (Thurman) Stallcop. As a young girl, Susan moved with her family to Minnesota, where she attended school in Hopkins, Minn., and graduated from Hopkins High School. Following her graduation, Susan attended the University of Minnesota.

On June 14, 1969, Susan was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jim Wilson, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hopkins, Minn. Together the couple would make their home in St. Paul before moving to Fairmont in 1972. To this union three children were born, Christian, Andrew and Sarah.

While living in St. Paul, Susan worked in Minneapolis for the USDA/ASCS where she was a collection clerk, and then as an editor for the Daily Market Record. Later in life, she worked part time for Stage department store in Fairmont. But her primary passion in life was providing and caring for her family and keeping a cozy and welcoming home.

Susan held a special place in her heart for animals and was affectionately referred to by her family as “Snow White” for the kindness that she showed her four-legged and feather-covered friends. She loved watching the birds and animals who enjoyed the treats she would leave for them in her back yard. She also gave extra special attention to her companion animals, which included several Yorkies over the years.

Family was extremely important to Susan and she treasured the memories she made cheering on her children during their years of playing hockey, running in cross country, or performing musically or in theater.

She loved to spend her summers at their lake cabin. And in recent years, spending time with her granddaughters brought her the greatest joy. She loved to cook and garden, and grew amazing tomatoes and beautiful flowers.

Susan’s zest for life and kind and caring ways will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her a friend.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48 years, Jim Wilson of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Christian (Charlie) Clayton-Wilson of St. Paul, Minn., Andrew (Rachelle) Wilson of St. Joseph, Minn., and Sarah (Dustin) Willers of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Ella Wilson and Ayla Wilson; brothers-in-law, Robert (Marie Kelly) Wilson, William (Annette) Wilson, and Ed (Lynn) Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ruth Stallcop; and her brother, Peter Stallcop.
