FAIRMONT — Private family services for Jerald W. Hardt, 84, of Fairmont, will be held at a later date.

Jerald passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerald Whilliam Hardt was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Swea City, Iowa, to Charles and Clara (Brandt) Hardt. Growing up, Jerald attended school and graduated from East Chain High School in East Chain, Minn. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War time, being stationed in Germany. Jerald was honorably discharged in 1954.

On Jan. 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Nowak in Sioux Falls, S.D. This union was blessed with four children: Charles, Romney, Lisa and Rory.

Jerald worked as a machinist at Railway Motors in Fairmont until his retirement in 1998.

In his spare time, he liked to work around his house and yard, spend time doing crafts, go fishing and take camping trips with his family. From a young age, Jerald had a love for horses and enjoyed spending time riding and working with them. Jerald loved his family unconditionally and cherished all time spent together. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Hardt; children, Charles Hardt, Romney (Annette) Hardt, Lisa Rank, and Rory (Tracy) Hardt; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; father-in-law, Frank Nowak; and other extended family and friends.

Jerald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. Memorials can reach the family at 2548 Stella Street, Fairmont, MN 56031.
