WINNEBAGO — Doris Evelyn Owen, age 95, of Winnebago, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at United Hospital District. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on July 15, at the church.

Doris was born June 16, 1922, in Emerald Township, Minn., the daughter of Alfred and Ada (Erickson) Claeys.

On June 29, 1940, she married DWarn (Bud) Owen in Algona, Iowa. Together, they owned and operated Bud’s Royal Blue in Winnebago for several years until selling and moving to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1962. They owned the Golden Pheasant Lounge in Sioux Falls until 1964. They bought a grocery store in Amboy, which they sold in 1974 and bought the Winnebago Locker, and retired in 1983. Doris loved furniture shopping, cooking, sewing, family, and hanging out with her Sunday coffee crew.

Doris is survived by her children, David (Judy) Owen of Little Boy Lake in Longville, Minn., Gary (Julie) Owen of Winnebago, Chuck (Nancy) Owen of Willmar; sister, Shirley Mertens of Woodbury; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Johnson, Joe (Jenna) Owen, Adam Owen, Ryan Owen, Kelly (James) Klegstad, Andrew (Fiancee Else Obermeier Smith) Owen, Wade Owen; five great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Larry (Mary Ann) Owen of Winnebago.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and parents.
