Martin Co. West student wins scholarship

SHERBURN — Emily Matejka, a senior at Martin County West High School in Sherburn, has been named a 2020 National Honor Society Scholarship semi-finalist. She was chosen from nearly 7,000 applicants and was awarded a $3,200 scholarship. This selection is made in recognition of outstanding achievement in the pillars of scholarship, service, leadership and character.

Her principal, David Traetow, noted that Matejka was an outstanding leader of her class and the student body as a whole. Matejka displayed leadership on the cross country team and served as an FFA officer. This fall, she plans to attend South Dakota State University and study agricultural communications and animal science.
