CEYLON — St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will have services at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30. This will continue until a new pastor is found for their partner churches, St. John’s in Sherburn and St. Paul’s in Wilbert. The ladies group, LWML, at Wilbert will have their Christmas Social at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. They invite the ladies from Ceylon to join them for a salad luncheon, program, craft and bake sale table that day.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will have services at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 and invite area residents to join them for their services on the first and third Saturday evenings and for their Bible Class at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday.

The Circle of Faith parishes have services in December at 9 a.m. at St. Peter in Ceylon, 9 a.m. at Trinity in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran in Trimont. Next Sunday, Dec. 7, the Circle of Faith parishes are invited to a choir Cantata at Waverly Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. and a Carol sing at First Lutheran Church in Trimont at 6:30 p.m.

Coffee Lovers group meets from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Thursday in the back room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join.

Condolences to the family of Darren Fritz from Livermore Iowa, formerly from the Wilbert area, who passed away recently. He is gone too soon. He will be missed by family and friends.

The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have a small business Holiday Vendor Event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, today, Nov. 29. All kinds of vendors were encouraged to show their products. Celebrate small business pride. Maybe do some Christmas shopping. The Lake Belt Bar and Grill also have Races and Meat Raffles scheduled for Dec. 6 from 2-4 p.m. and Line Dancing scheduled for Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be on Dec. 1 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. CREST Lunch and Learn will have a program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program will be followed by a lunch. These are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST does appreciate a free will donation for the lunch. The theme will be Christmas with a Christmas Bingo with prizes and a luncheon of chicken salad croissant, potato soup, carrots and a Christmas dessert.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon non-profit group will sponsor a Christmas decorating contest for Ceylon residents. They will have a $50 prize for first place, a $30 prize for second place and a $20 prize for third place. The judge will be from out of town and the judging will be done on Dec. 20, so make sure your lights are on that day. Thank you for lighting up the city for the holidays and Thank you to the Helping Hands of Ceylon group for sponsoring the contest.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon also have planned a Santa Day for the area children from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 20. Santa will arrive on a Fire Truck and the children may have a photo taken with him. The children may have a beverage and a cookie and take home a treat bag. Meet next to the museum on Main Street in Ceylon. There are Santa Days planned for area towns: Dunnell on Dec. 7 and Trimont on Dec. 7, Welcome has Santa Day on Dec. 14 at the Legion Hall and Sherburn will have a free movie on Dec. 5, 6, and 7. There will be a Pancakes with Santa in Sherburn at the High School on Dec. 7 morning.
