Leaf pick-up planned in Sherburn

SHERBURN — The congregations of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert will miss the service of Pastor Steve Wilson beginning Nov. 30. They have provided a public farewell open house event from 5 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the Fox Lake Event Center, since Pastor Steve and Bonnie Wilson are very well known and loved in the Sherburn community and area. Come and wish them well and have cupcakes and coffee. The last service performed by Pastor Wilson will be Nov. 23 and that is a special service for the two congregations only. That will be a joint service at 9 a.m. at St. John’s. followed by fellowship and rolls and will give the congregation members a chance to wish them well privately. Other news from St. John’s includes the LWML meeting at 2 p.m. on Nov. 12 and the packing of the Operation Christmas Child boxes on Nov. 16.

The Dunnell Lake Fremont Fire Department will have a Turkey Bingo at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the Community Hall in Dunnell. They have 40 turkeys to give away and lots of fun. Plan to attend.

The Sherburn City Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 764-4491.

The Martin County West School Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Sherburn Elementary School.

The Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn, south of Interstate 90. There are no residential or income guidelines for this distribution of groceries. $25 will get a trunkful of groceries. If anyone has boxes from other distributions, or that are a good size for the groceries, please bring them to the volunteers at the beginning of the line. Thank you. The Mayo Mobile Clinic is scheduled to be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 17 and 19. Call the appointment number and mention the Sherburn clinic at (507) 238-8500.

Martin County West will perform its musical, “Newsies” at 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 and 22 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 23 at the Sherburn Theatre. Plan to attend and support our school students. Tickets for the musical are $7 for adults, and $5 for students (children under five are free). The Sherburn Theatre will show “Zootopia 2” on the weekend of Nov. 28. Thank you to the Sherburn Theatre for supporting the students of MCW.

Leaf pick up is scheduled again for Sherburn November 10 to 21 since the city found a tractor to rent. Pick up will be sporadic. Leave the Leaves on the curb or take them to the burn site yourself. Please do not leave bags at the site. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Santa Workshop will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn.

The Sherburn C&C club will sponsor a free movie from Dec. 5 to 7 and, with a Pancakes with Santa event on Dec. 7. They will not have a tree-decorating contest or a vendor fair this year.

The Trimont Fire Relief Association will have a Ham Bingo at 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.
