City clean-up Saturday

Tomorrow, Oct. 16, will be Clean Up Day in Welcome from 8-10 a.m. (or when truck is full) located behind the Fire Hall on Campbell Street. This is for Welcome residents only. Be prepared to show proof of residency. Unacceptable items are: any liquid including paint, solvents, oil; any hazardous or toxic waste; any yard waste; appliances; tires; or concrete.

Saturday is also the day for Cribbage players to gather at 1:30 p.m. at the Welcome Legion Hall for an afternoon of fun and fellowship.

The Welcome Legion continues to sell the Pheasants for Vets paper birds at $5 each to raise funds for the Veterans Day dinner served to Veterans in veterans homes. Deadline to donate is Nov. 8th. Stop in at the Welcome Legion and buy a “bird” for this worthwhile cause.

Sunday, Circle of Faith parishioners may take communion at the Drive Thru Communion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Trinity in Welcome or Waverly church north of Welcome.

Red Cross Blood Drive will be held 12-6 p.m. Monday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. Plan now to give the gift of life saving Blood. Call 800-733-2767 (red-cross)

or go online to redcrossblood.org or text Blood App to 90999 to make an appointment or find a blood drive location. The Regional Worship Center in Sherburn will have a blood drive 1-6 p.m. on Nov. 8th.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.19 at city hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always a time at the beginning of each meeting for a public comments/questions time. To be on the regular agenda contact the City Clerk prior to the meeting at (507) 728-8740.

A Lunch and Learn session sponsored by Crest is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20 at First Lutheran Church in

Trimont. This is for all Martin County residents and is free.

Ruby’s Pantry will have a Drive Thru distribution 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at the Regional Worship Center parking lot in Sherburn. Check out the facebook post for a partial list of

groceries etc. to be distributed. Have an empty trunk for the boxes given. There is no guidelines for income or residency. There is a donation of $20 suggested.

Coffee Hours on Tuesdays in October continue at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn from 8:30 to 10. Join them for fellowship over a cup of coffee and a roll.

Condolences to the family of Edwin Abel who passed away this week. He will be missed.

Have a safe Harvest, watch for slow moving vehicles on the road and safe operation of combines and tractors and trucks.
