Truman council to meet Monday

TRUMAN — The Scholastic Book Fair will take place 4:30-6:30 p.m. today in the high school gym. Park in the high school parking lot

and enter through the west door. Please wear a mask and practice safe physical distancing. Also, there’s the online Scholastic Book Fair until May 18. Go to scholastic.com and type in Truman Elementary. If you order $25 of books, the shipping is free. Your purchases

benefit the Truman Public School Library. If you have questions,

Saturday the fishing season will open for walleye, bass, northern

pike, and trout in the lakes. Don’t forget you fishing license.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday. If you have ideas,

concerns or questions, phone Truman City Hall at (507) 776-7951 and talk to Amy, Sherry, or Thea to get put on the agenda.

Truman School Board meets 5:30 p.m. Monday in the board

conference room. This change is because of Memorial Day.

Recycling day is Wednesday. Please place your container curbside by 7 a.m. with the front facing the street.

Second Harvest Heartland and Nutrition Assistance Program for

Seniors will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up,

household size, and income. You may pre-register at 1-800-365-

0270.

Please fly your flag at half-staff on Wednesday to honor those we

have lost due to COVID-19. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has requested we do this on the 19th of each month.

The annual Lewisville Legion Auxiliary Memorial Day breakfast will be held 6:30-9:30 a.m. You can come to the Legion to dine-in or order your breakfast to go at (507) 435-4711. Enjoy your breakfast for a free will donation.

Fairmont Chamber of Commerce is offering a $1000 scholarship to a Martin County student in a business-related field entering their

junior or senior post secondary year in a four-year college or their

final year in a technical college. The scholarship is awarded after a

review of grades to confirm achievement of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0

scale. Scholarship applications may be picked up at the Fairmont

Area Chamber of Commerce office located at 323 E. Blue Earth Ave.or filled out online on the Chamber’s website, www.fairmontchamber.org. Applications must be submitted and received by the Chamber

office no later than July 17, 2021.
