Fire department to hold fundraiser

TRUMAN — Truman Museum is closed until further notice due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in our area. Even though the museum is closed the window displays are wonderful. You will view many artifacts of the Native Americans that occupied our area, even a bison skull found near Truman is on display. “A look back at THS Homecoming” is on display also.

The Community Chest is postponing its annual fall drive until this spring. Laurie Sherman is replacing Alice Raddatz as chairman of the drive. “Thank you” to Alice, Darlene, and Sherry for serving on this committee.

Truman City Hall is closed to the public. If you need any assistance, call (507) 776-7951, and Brenda, Thea, or Sherry will assist you.

Truman City Council meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. Monday. Due to the pandemic, attendance at the regular meeting location by members of the public is not feasible. Members of the public may monitor the meeting via Zoom. If you would like to join, please notify Brenda at (507) 776-7951.

Recycling day is Wednesday. All cardboard needs to be broken down. Have your cart on the curb by 7 a.m.

The youth tractor and farm safety certification program provides youth, 14 years and older, the opportunity to learn about safe equipment operation and general farm safety. Students who complete this program will receive a U.S. Department of Labor certificate of training. This certificate is required for 14 and 15-year-olds who wish to work with equipment over 20 horsepower off their family farm or homestead. The youth tractor and farm safety certification program are a two-part program, including both an online learning experience and two days of in-person hands-on training in the summer. The online course is a self-paced one to two-week program. Once you have registered for the in-person program, they will send you the details about accessing the online course. Save the date of Oct. 10 as the Truman Fire Department will hold its Burger Night drive-through fundraiser from 4-7 p.m. You can order a grilled hamburger or cheeseburger, pickles, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, chips, cookie, and a bottle of water for a free-will donation.
