Leland Parkway project in Blue Earth ongoing

BLUE EARTH — “Work on the County Road 16/Leland Parkway project is progressing and is about three weeks ahead of schedule at this point,” Public Works director Mark Daly told Faribault County commissioners Tuesday.

Daly said that as the project moves from phase 1 and 2 to phase 3, the Blue Earth West Industrial Park will no longer be accessible from the east.

“[The Minnesota Department of Transportation] has sent out a detour map,” Daly said. “From Blue Earth, people will travel west on Interstate 90 and get off at the Guckeen exit. They will then proceed to County Road 16 to head back east to the industrial park.”

The story is different for those coming from Fairmont on I-90.

“The eastbound exit at Guckeen is closed, so people heading east on I-90 would have to go all the way to Blue Earth to exit the freeway,” Daly noted. “Then they would get back on I-90 and proceed to the westbound exit at Guckeen.”

Daly also updated the board on other construction projects.

“The reclaiming and paving work is done on County Road 23,” he said. “Shoulder work will begin by the end of this week and the project should be completed by the end of the month. The shoulder work on County Road 15 north of Delavan is complete and the striping is finished.”
