Sump pumps need to be discharging on the lawn or into storm sewer, not to the sanitary sewer. This is a city and federal law.

The city also asks that only toilet paper be flushed down toilets. Wipes and other paper products do not break down like toilet paper and they plug the sanitary sewer, causing backups and expensive repairs to pumps. Backups also can create health concerns.

Thank you for your help to keep the city clean.
