Fish fry will benefit Welcome celebration

WELCOME — There is an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 5-7:30 p.m. (or until it’s gone) tonight at the Welcome Legion. This is a fundraiser for the Summer Festival Committee so there is a $15 charge. The menu includes fish, shrimp, baked potato, coleslaw and a dinner roll.

There is a Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. To make an appointment or for more information, contact the Red Cross at www.redcrossblood.org, call them at (800)733-2767 or text BLOODAPP to 90999.

Senior citizens will meet noon Monday for their potluck lunch at the Welcome Legion, with fellowship to follow. All area senior citizens are welcome.

There will be a Relay for Life meeting 5:30 p.m. Monday in the classroom at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall. Note the change of date because of the primary election Tuesday.

Wednesday will continue the mid-week Lenten services for area churches.

Circle of Faith congregations will meet at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome for a 5:30 p.m. meal and 6:30 p.m. service.

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will meet for Lenten Bible study at 6 p.m. with the theme “Weight of the Cross.”

Condolences to the family of Roger Hoppe from Welcome who passed away this week. He will be missed.

Upcoming events include the Welcome Fireman’s Dance from 6:30 p.m. to midnight March 14 at the Welcome Legion.
