There will be a benefit for 8-month-old Elsie Swanson from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at Martin County West High School in Sherburn.

The benefit includes a pancake breakfast as well as a silent auction.

Elsie is the daughter of Evan Swanson and Ryley Becker of Sherburn. Three months ago, Elsie was diagnosed with metastatic neuroblastoma and two gene mutations that make this type of cancer aggressive and more likely for reoccurrence.

She has begun chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She will also need surgery to remove the tumors, a stem cell transplant, radiation and immunotherapy. Elsie and her parents will have to make frequent trips to Children’s Hospital over the next two years to receive the additional treatment, as well as scans and medication to prevent her cancer from recurring.

Proceeds from the benefit will help this young family with some of their medical and travel expenses.
