Blue Earth gets projects update

BLUE EARTH – Blue Earth City Council this week received an update from City Engineer Wes Brown, who discussed several projects.

These include the new housing development, the 13th and Moore Street project, and the 2020 Leland Parkway project.

Brown said the final closeout has been made on the 13th and Moore Street project, while the final closeout on the new housing development project is close.

He had one change order for the new housing project for the council to consider.

“Bruns Construction has submitted a bill for work they did on the boulevards, grading and seeding, that was done after the initial construction,” Brown said. “It was disturbed by some natural gas and water lines installed and needed to be redone.”

The council approved the $2,687.50 bill.

Brown also said engineering plans for next year’s Leland Parkway project have been completed by Bolton & Menk and have been sent to County Engineer Mark Daly for approval.

The project is a joint county-city project.

In other business, the council:

o Approved all of the mayoral appointments to city boards and commissions, and approved the Faribault County Register as official city newspaper, First Bank Blue Earth as official city depository and Clifton Larson Allen as city auditor.

o Received an update on notices being sent to owners of cars parked at a local auto repair shop. City Attorney David Frundt said he has been getting some response from the owners.

o Approved a one-day special liquor license for the Blue Earth American Legion for its annual Super Bowl party, and approved canceling an agreement with a veterans memorial group concerning use of a lot downtown.

o Learned there have been three applications for the open city administrator position. The application deadline is Jan. 20.
