Food available to seniors from Second Harvest

TRUMAN — Truman Elementary Christmas concert has been postponed until 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16.

Lewisville American Legion Auxiliary soup and sandwich luncheon will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. They will serve a variety of soups and sandwiches, and have a bake sale.

Come to the Lewisville Legion Club and visit with Santa Claus.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday in the council room behind the city library. Please use the west door. All meetings are open to the public, with a time for questions/comments.

Truman High School band and choir Christmas music performance begins 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Wednesday is recycling day. Please place your recycling container curbside by 7 a.m. with all cardboard flattened.

Remember, just because there is a recycling symbol on it does not mean it can be recycled. This includes such items as egg cartons, pizza boxes, Styrofoam and plastic grocery bags. Plastics with 1, 2 and 5 are accepted.

Make sure all items are rinsed out and clean so they do not contaminate the other recyclables.

Senior citizens can get free food from Second Harvest Heartland and the nutrition assistance program for seniors from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman.

Food is available to eligible seniors once per month, with eligibility based on age (60 years and older), household size and income.
