Families make global impact through charity
FAIRMONT — This month, sites in the Fairmont area will be among 5,000 U.S. dropoff locations collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week, Nov. 18-25.
Fairmont families, churches and groups are busy transforming empty shoeboxes into gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items. The Samaritan’s Purse project partners with local churches across the globe to deliver these items to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine.
This year, Fairmont-area residents hope to collect more than 10,870 gifts to contribute to the 2019 global goal of reaching 11 million children. Area collection sites are as follows:
o Trimont – Trimont United Methodist Church, 111 Apple Street E.: 9-11 a.m. Monday, 9-11 a.m. Tuesday 9-11 a.m. Nov. 20, 6-8 p.m. Nov. 20, 4-6 p.m. Nov. 21, 4-6 p.m. Nov. 22, 1-4 p.m. Nov. 23, 1-4 p.m. Nov. 24, 9-11 a.m. Nov. 25.
