FFA fruit sales under way

SHERBURN — There will be a CREST Lunch & Learn beginning 11 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program will be about trumpeter swans.

Following the program, a lunch of chicken rice soup or chili and a pumpkin dessert will be served. Donations for the meal will be appreciated.

Anyone in the area who would like to attend is welcome.

Sherburn American Legion will host “Hamburger Night” from 6-8 p.m. tonight. Stop in for a delicious grilled burger with all the toppings.

Martin County West students will not have school Thursday and Friday due to MEA.

There will also be early dismissal on Oct. 23 for a teacher workshop. On that day, shuttle buses will be dismissed from sites at 12:15 p.m. and route buses will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Ruby’s Pantry will hold its monthly food distribution in Sherburn from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Regional Worship Center. Guests are asked to bring boxes, laundry baskets or totes to carry their food. A $20 cash donation is required. There are no income or residency guidelines needed to receive a share of food.

Congratulations to Temperance Lake Ridge Senior Living in Sherburn. The facility was recently recognized as a 2019 recipient of the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living for its commitment to improving the quality of lives of the residents in their care.

Lisa Lange, executive director of Temperance Lake Ridge, will receive this award at a recognition banquet later this month in Florida.

Regional Worship Center in Sherburn invites anyone in the area to come join them for breakfast from 7-9 a.m. Mondays. Pancakes with syrup, eggs and coffee are on the menu. The cost is a donation.

Martin County West FFA fruit sales began last week and will continue through October. If you wish to order and haven’t been contacted by an FFA member, please call the school office.

Friendship Club of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will gather for a Thanksgiving potluck meal 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 in the basement at the church, 317 S. Main St., Sherburn. You are asked to bring a dish to pass. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Red Cross bloodmobile will be in Sherburn from 1-6 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Regional Worship Center. If you would like to make an appointment in advance, call Dorothy Janssen at (507) 236-5764 or you may also go online to redcrossblood.org to set up an appointment.

Tuesday morning coffee hours in October continue from 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Everyone is invited.
