Sex predator facing felony in Martin Co.

FAIRMONT — A Fort Mill, South Carolina, man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

William Boyce Varnadore, 35, has been charged with knowingly violating registration requirements for a predatory offender. The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On April 10, a Martin County Sheriff’s deputy was assigned to look into Varnadore, a registered sex offender in South Carolina.

Varnadore is required to register his residences, both permanent and temporary. The deputy obtained documentation showing that Varnadore was made aware that he is required to comply with any new jurisdiction’s registration requirements.

The deputy determined that Varnadore was believed to be living in Truman and working at Hen-Way Manufacturing in Fairmont. The deputy went to Varnadore’s place of business and asked to speak to him. A short time later, the deputy met with Varnadore in a private office and Varnadore was advised of his rights.

The deputy asked if he could ask him some questions and Varnadore said he was not sure if he should without his attorney. Varnadore eventually said he probably could not reach his attorney, so he would talk to the deputy. The deputy clarified that Varnadore wanted to waive his right to an attorney and Varnadore said he did.

During the interview, the deputy asked Varnadore where he was living. Varnadore said his permanent address is in South Carolina, but he has been staying temporarily at a residence in Truman. Varnadore said he has been living there since late March.

Varnadore also said he goes back to South Carolina every 30 days to keep his South Carolina address permanent and stay compliant with his predatory offender registration. Varnadore said that since he travels for work, he lets his predatory offender agent know where he is going. Varnadore admitted, however, that he does not actually register each address with the agent, but the agent knows he is in Minnesota.

Varnadore also admitted that he has not registered in Minnesota.
