Derby fundraiser slated in Sherburn

SHERBURN — A CREST Lunch and Learn event will be held 11 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program will feature Paul Harris of Harris Honey who will speak about beekeeping.

Following the presentation, a lunch of beef stew, homemade dinner rolls with honey butter and apple dessert will be served. Donations will be accepted for the lunch.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Grilled burgers with all the toppings will be served 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Sherburn American Legion. Come for the good food, then stay and visit with your friends and neighbors.

A derby fundraiser will take place Saturday in the fellowship hall at First Congregational Church in Sherburn. Dinner will be served from 4:30-6 p.m. Pork loin sandwiches, potato salad, assorted bars and a beverage will be served, all for $6.

A silent auction will be held as well from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Live derby horse racing will start 6:30 p.m. There will be a derby hat contest for the ladies attending, so you’re urged to get creative. Everyone is welcome.

Regional Worship Center (across from Kum & Go) in Sherburn serves breakfast from 7-9 a.m. each Monday. On the menu will be pancakes and syrup, eggs and coffee. The cost is a donation. Anyone from the community is welcome to come have breakfast with them.

Martin County West Community Education will offer fall gymnastics lessons from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Sept. 24 through Oct. 10. There will be a maximum of 14 students for each class. More details and registration forms are on the Martin County West website.

Don’t forget to tell your friends and family members who graduated from Sherburn High School about the all-school reunion that will be held June 19-21, 2020. No formal invitations will be sent out, so the committee is counting on all of us to help get the word out to SHS alumni and staff.

Tuesday morning coffee hours for the month of September are being held 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Welcome. Everyone is welcome.
