Truman Public Schools orientation for new students and those in seventh grade will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday. Enrollment is open to students in and outside the school district with transportation available to many areas outside the district.

Truman Public School is partnered with a variety of Minnesota colleges for students to earn college credits while still in high school.

Truman Public School also offers free preschool to four-year-olds as either morning or afternoon option. A free preschool for three-year-olds is available two mornings a week. Ask about transportation and enrollment at (507) 776-2111.

The first day of school for students in grades 7-12 begins 8:20 a.m. on Sept. 3, and Sept. 5 for students in grades K-6.

Do you want to brighten things up before school starts at no cost and no need to register? Then from 5:30-6:30 p.m. next Wednesday join Truman Pride and spend time outdoors painting kindness rocks to spread around the landscaping at the school. Meet in the front main doors on the north side of the school.

Last day for swimming at the pool is 6 p.m. Sunday.

Each year, CIEE connects people and communities around the world by providing high school students from more than 70 countries the life-changing opportunity to attend high school in the United States. CIEE is looking for host families in Minnesota who can welcome one of these international students into their home for as little as two weeks up to 10 months. The role of a host family is part parent, part cultural ambassador. Families of all shapes and sizes with kids or no kids, empty nesters, single parents, etc., are welcome to host international students between 15 and 18 years old who are participating in CIEE’s High School USA program. Last year, nine Minnesota families made it possible for students from seven countries to learn about American high school and participate in the extracurricular activities typical of an American teenager. Students come with their own insurance and spending money. CIEE offers on going support services to ensure that host families have a positive experience. The CIEE high school USA team gets to know each host family in order to match them with the right student, offers advice on how to bring host families and students closer together, and CIEE provides 24/7 emergency support. Ready to make the world a more peaceful place? Host families humanize international relation by fostering mutual understanding and respect between people, cultures, and countries. To learn more about hosting a CIEE high school USA student, follow us on Facebook, visit ciee.org/host, or contact Kris Loschen, CIEE Minnesota Regional Director at: kloschen@ciee.org or call 1-507-553-5103.
