MCW seventh grade students and new students orientation will be held Aug. 28 at the high school in Sherburn. This “Transition Day” orientation has been held in previous years during the day, however, this year in order to provide more opportunities for parents/guardians to be more involved in their child’s school experience at a new school, they have moved the event to later hours. MCW staff, National Honor Society, FFA and student council will be providing an orientation session for seventh graders and new students from 5-7 p.m. that night. Parents are welcome to come with their students. If you would like to meet with them, staff will be available from 3:30-5 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m. Busing will be provided to and from Ceylon, Dunnell, Trimont and Welcome. Pick-up bus times are as follow: 3:15 p.m. at Ceylon Post Office, 3:30 p.m. at Dunnell Park, 3:15 p.m. at Welcome School, and 3:30 p.m. at Trimont School. Drop-off times will be 7:45-8 a.m. at these same locations. Orientation will include locker assignments, going through a mock schedule, meeting teachers, finding rooms, and school lunch and breakfast procedures. It’s important that these students attend to help make the transition to a new school a more comfortable experience for them.
