Maverick Golf Classic set for Saturday

SHERBURN — A “Lunch and Learn” event sponsored by CREST will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Sherburn Senior Citizens Center. The theme will be the Martin County Fair.

After the presentation, those attending are invited to stay for a lunch of fair food. A donation for the lunch would be appreciated.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

The Sherburn American Legion is hosting its grilled hamburger night tonight. Stop down for a delicious meal. They serve from 6-8 p.m.

The monthly steak and shrimp night is Saturday evening at the Sherburn American Legion. They will serve from 5-8 p.m. The public is invited.

The Historic Jackson Theatre in Jackson will show a FREE movie on Aug. 19. The title is “Summer Snow,” and anyone in the area who is interested is welcome to attend. There is no cost for the movie but there is a charge for any concessions you may want.

The Martin County West Booster Club Maverick Golf Classic will be held Saturday. This is the Booster Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. If you are interested in golfing or attending the meal following, call the Fox Lake Golf Club for details.

It’s nearly time for school activities once again. Monday will be the first day of practice for fall sports. Martin County West Schools registration for 2019-2020 will be held Aug. 19-23 at the individual school buildings during normal school hours. However, on Aug. 21, the school will be open for registration until 7 p.m.

Ruby’s Pantry will host its monthly food distribution from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There are no income guidelines or residency requirements to receive a share of food. You are asked to bring two boxes or totes to carry the food and a $20 cash donation.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn is hosting Tuesday coffee hours during August. Times are 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Everyone in the area is invited for morning coffee, homemade goodies, and fellowship with friends and neighbors.
