Dance program offered

SHERBURN — The wrap-up meeting for this year’s Relay for Life will be 5:30 p.m. Monday in the main meeting room at Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in Fairmont.

All committee members, team captains and team members are urged to attend. They will be discussing things that worked in 2019 and what can be improved for the 2020 Relay for Life.

A flag football program for Martin County West students entering grades 1-3 will be held this fall beginning in September. The deadline to register is Aug. 2. If you would like to register your child or if you have questions, call Community Education at (507) 764-2336.

Martin County West Community Education and Recreation is offering a “Standing Ovations” dance program this fall that will be held at the Sherburn Community Hall. The program will consist of three short sessions this year rather than one long session, with a short recital at the end of each session. For more information, call (507) 764-2336.

FFA Back-to-School Night and the Minnesota State High School League meeting for MCW students will both take place on Aug. 5 at the high school in Sherburn.

FFA Back-to-School Night is for any student entering grades 7-12 who is interested in becoming an FFA member. It’s a chance to learn more about FFA and to sign up for activities during this next school year.

The Minnesota State High School League meeting is a mandatory meeting for parents and students who will be involved in athletics/activities this school year. Mark the date on your calendar and make plans to attend.

MCW school offices will open with regular hours starting Aug. 5. The hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Federated Rural Electric will once again hold its annual meeting at the MCW Jr./Sr. High School in Sherburn. The date for this meeting will be Aug. 1.

Lots of door prizes will be given away once again this year.

From 5-6:30 p.m., they will serve pork chop-on-a-stick grilled by the Martin County Pork Producers along with Gerhardt Catering’s cheesy hashbrowns, baked beans, cookie or bars.

Everyone attending will receive a 12-by-7-inch bamboo cutting board.

Bingo with prizes will be played between 5:30-6:15 p.m., with the meeting getting underway around 6:30 p.m.

The last Tuesday morning coffee hour for July will begin 8:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will host Tuesday coffee hours in August.
