Spring fling coming up

TRUMAN — Free household hazardous waste collections for Martin and Faribault county residents will be 6-7:30 p.m. tonight at the Granada Fire Hall.

No empty paint cans, only cans that contain liquid paint. Ag chemicals and business products will be accepted by appointment.

Items accepted are carburetor cleaner, degreasers, fuels, gasoline, charcoal, lighter fluid, fertilizer w/weed killer, household insect killer, aerosol products (with something in the can), concrete cleaner, caulk, paint remover, paint thinner, stain/varnish, mercury thermometers, wood preservatives, moth balls, drain cleaner, driveway sealer, rechargeable batteries, ink jet cartridges, nail polish/remover, pesticides, pool chemicals, roofing, tar, oven cleaners, spot removers, household cleaners.

Truman Active Living is hosting a bike rodeo for all third-graders of Truman Public School and St. Paul’s Lutheran School beginning 12:30 p.m. Friday on a course set up by the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota in the high school parking lot. For more information, call Pat at (507) 236-4433.

Truman High School prom is Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the grand march at 7 p.m.

The class of 2023 at Truman Public School is raising funds for its senior class trip. They will be busy working for tips from 5-9 p.m. Monday at the Pizza Ranch in Fairmont. Take your mom out to dinner for Mother’s Day.

Truman Active Living meets 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the Truman Museum. They invite any interested Truman area residents who would like to see the community continue to provide and improve the facilities to attend their meetings. They welcome your input.

Recycling day is Wednesday. Please place recycling carts curbside by 7 a.m., with all cardboard boxes broken down.

Truman Schools spring fling will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. A variety of activities are planned, such as a book fair (buy one, get one free), a free meal, students art show, talent showcase, and from 7-8 p.m., the elementary and high school bands will perform.

If you have a talent you would like to share, please call the high school office at (507) 776-2111 no later than Tuesday.

The public is invited to see all the amazing things happening at Truman Public School.

Second Harvest Heartland-NAPS for eligible seniors 60 years and older is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. To pre-register, call (800) 365-0270.

A come-and-go bridal shower for Ciera Drevlow will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. May 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. Ciera is the bride-to-be of Sam Geistfeld. They are registered at Truman Floral and Gifts, Sterling Drug, Amazon, Target and Collage in St James.
