This is Sherburn’s citywide cleanup week. You are welcome to leave items you do not want on your curb for anyone who would like to repurpose them. If they are not picked up by Saturday, you may take them to the lot behind City Hall, which is the dropoff site, as it has been in past years. This dropoff site will be open 8-11 a.m. Saturday, or until the truck is full. There will be no charge for your items if you haul them yourself to this site. If you wish to have items picked up on your curb, however, you must get a $20 tag at City Hall before 4 p.m. Thursday. If you have items that are more than a pickup load, you will need more than one tag. If you do not purchase a tag from City Hall, any items left on your curb will not be picked up.

n

Saturday evening, the Sherburn American Legion will host its monthly steak and shrimp night. They will serve from 5-8 p.m., and the public is invited.

n

On Monday, a free movie will be shown at the Jackson Theatre in Jackson. The movie is “Unbroken,” a true story about a World War II prisoner of war and what he overcomes to become an Olympian athlete. Showtime is 7 p.m., and there is no cost to see this movie. The only cost would be if you want something to eat from the concession stand while you watch the show. Everyone is welcome.

n

Sherburn American Legion Auxiliary meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion. New members are welcome.

Be sure to get your survey filled out for the Martin County West school district concerning your feelings on options to update the school facilities. Community feedback is important to the administration and school board in making these decisions. Surveys may be mailed in the envelope provided, or you may drop off your survey at any of the MCW buildings. You also may take the surveys online. All surveys need to be completed by May 31. The results will be reported at the June 17 school board meeting.

Volunteers are needed to help with Ruby’s Pantry distribution of food at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. The event will take place on the third Monday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering may call one of the church offices in Sherburn, or you may contact Becky Tish.

Baccalaureate for the Martin County West class of 2019 and families will be 7 p.m. May 15 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. There will be musical selections by the Martin County West band and choir members. The community is invited.

To all Martin County West band members: A very special thank you for your excellent performance during the all-bands concert Monday. It was truly a beautiful concert with most enjoyable musical selections. Someone who deserves so much credit for her ability to teach and lead these students should be especially thanked. Thank you, Mrs. Nickole Bowie for a most entertaining evening of music.
