SHERBURN — A spring vendor show will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There will be a lunch and concessions throughout the day.

Many small and home-based businesses will be there selling their wares and crafts. Be sure to stop by and check out the numerous items for sale.

The monthly steak and shrimp night will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Sherburn American Legion. They will serve a choice of shrimp, grilled steak or combo meal, smoked pork chop, baked potato, salad bar and garlic toast. The public is always welcome.

Open houses at all Martin County West preschools will be held Thursday.

The preschool in Welcome will be open 4-5 p.m.; Sherburn’s hours are 4:30-6 p.m.; and the preschool in Trimont will be open from 6-7 p.m.

This is a chance for students and parents to meet the teachers and check out the classrooms. Three- and 4-year-old preschool programs are available.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Blue Earth/Sherburn Bi-Zone spring rally will be Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. Registration will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a light supper, with the rally getting underway about 6 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Evelyn Seton, who will talk about Chance International Outreach, a Minnesota-based non-profit organization that was established to rescue young girls, women and children living in unsafe situations in Liberia.

There will be an Avenue of Flags committee meeting 8 p.m. April 17 at the Sherburn American Legion. Plans will be made for the upcoming Memorial Day ceremony and the raising of the flags at the city park.

In order to make up days missed because of weather, Martin County West Schools have been extending the school day on Wednesdays since March 20. These extended times will continue until May 8. On these days, students are in school from 8:15 a.m. until 3:47 p.m.

Also, school will be in session April 22.

Spring break for all MCW students will be just two days, April 18-19.

Nineteen youth will be confirmed during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn.

The Martin County West senior class will depart on its much-anticipated trip to Washington, D.C., on Sunday. They will return home April 20. May you all have a fun, safe and memorable trip.
