Lions planning steak fry

SHERBURN — If a delicious grilled burger sounds good for your meal this evening, then come on down to the Sherburn Legion where they will be serving from 6-8 p.m. tonight. All are welcome.

Glenn Henriksen and friends will be featured for a Christmas concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. You’re invited to join them and listen to the beautiful inspiring music.

Christmas goodies will follow in the fellowship hall at the church.

LWML of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn is sponsoring a mitten and hat tree at its 9 a.m. service Sunday. They ask the congregation to bring mittens and hats for students of all ages. There is a need especially for waterproof mittens and for elementary-sized tube socks as well.

All mittens, hats and socks collected that morning will be given to the Martin County West school district.

If you’re already looking ahead to New Year’s Eve, the Sherburn Lions Club would like to invite you to the New Year’s Eve steak fry to be held at the Sherburn American Legion Club. From 5-8 p.m., they will serve your choice of steak, shrimp, pork chop or a combo meal, baked potato, salad bar, homemade bread. A snack table will also be available.

The cost is $16. Reservations are not needed. Make plans now to attend. Everyone is welcome.

All MCW students are scheduled to be off school from Dec. 24 through Jan 1. School will resume Jan. 2.

There will be a holiday open swim for all ages from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Sherburn indoor pool. On Christmas Eve day and New Year’s Eve day, the pool will be open in the morning for fitness swimming and water aerobics and then closed in the afternoon. The pool will not be open on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

There will be a 2019 Relay for Life committee meeting and team captains meeting 5:30 p.m. Jan. 7 in the east/west meeting room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. All committee members and team captains are urged to attend.

May you all have a blessed Christmas with your family and friends. We have four churches here in Sherburn, so you may attend a church service of your choosing, and remember the reason we celebrate this holiday.
