Lewisville set to celebrate

TRUMAN — Come out for the Lewisville Fall Festival on Saturday.

The day begins with a breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m at the American Legion.

There will be a coloring contest for all ages from 9 a.m. to noon at the library, while a craft and vendor show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Old City Hall.

Enjoy tacos in a bag from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fun Daze food stand on Main Street. There will be a pumpkin and scarecrow judging contest at noon, and from 1-3 p.m. there will be pony cart rides for all ages.

A charity auction of chairs, decorated by local artisans, will be held at 2 p.m.

The day will round out with a Fall Festival ball drop at 3:33 p.m.

This event is sponsored by Lewisville Fun Daze.

Truman Lions Club Burger Bash will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Truman Community Building. Enjoy a delicious burger, condiments, beans, chips and beverage. Take outs are available.

Lewisville Legion Auxiliary chicken supper will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Sunday.

“Girl Talk – The Beauty Within,” with speaker Ashley Johnson will be held Oct. 28.

An RSVP for girls in grades 4-12 who plan to attend is due to Truman Community Education by Oct. 21.

Girl Talk is a free empowerment workshop with dinner and a speaker that will educate, empower and inspire girls by raising awareness, developing communication skills and cultivating self-respect.

Gather for a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the Truman High School cafeteria, followed by the speaker from 6-8 p.m.

KNUJ AM 860 radio from New Ulm features “Truman Time” with Mayor Lynn Brownlee at 3:15 p.m. Monday.

If you enjoy getting creative, an acrylic pour painting class taught by Jessica Schwantes Greve with Tree Ring Art is for you. To be part of this class that will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 25, register by Oct. 23. This class is for high school students through adults. You can paint on a 8-by-10-inch canvas, a record or a set of four 4-by-4-inch ceramic tiles. The cost is $20 per project. Truman Area Community Choir, led by Mark Nass, begins 7-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings. Practices will be held in the Truman High School Choir Hall area. Please use the activities entrance on the west side of the school.

The choir is open to community members of all ages. Join them to share your musical talent.

You will be a part of the THS Christmas music performance on Dec. 17.

Preschool screening is coming up in November. If your child is age 3 or older, Minnesota state law requires every child to complete a developmental screening before kindergarten. This screening is free of charge. You will be sent information in the mail. To set up an appointment, call Truman Public School at (507) 776-2111.
