Fairmont woman facing felony count

FAIRMONT — A Fairmont woman is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Heather Ann Isenberg, 43, has been charged with drug possession in the fifth degree, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On July 27, Fairmont police officers were dispatched to an area in the 200 block of East Second Street to conduct a welfare check on a female party who was behind the wheel of a running vehicle and appeared to be unconscious.

An officer made contact with the woman, who identified herself as Isenberg. The vehicle was not running when officers arrived, but Isenberg was in the driver’s seat passed out, with the keys in the passenger seat. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

While observing Isenberg, an officer recognized the signs of controlled substance impairment, which included dilated pupils, glossy eyes, slurred speech, signs of lethargy and slight tremors in her hands.

Isenberg was removed from the vehicle to conduct field sobriety tests, and a frisk was conducted for officer safety. During the frisk, the officer located a pipe on Isenberg, which later tested positive for the presence of meth.

Isenberg was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and was transported to the Martin County jail.

Officers obtained a warrant for Isenberg’s blood and a sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.

On July 28, the officer contacted the Brown County Detox and spoke with Isenberg over the phone.

Isenberg was informed of her rights and agreed to speak with the officer. Isenberg said she was parked at the location officers found her because she was using the public Wi-Fi provided by the library.

Isenberg said she smokes meth almost daily, and had used all day prior to being arrested. Isenberg admitted the pipe belonged to her but denied purchasing meth, saying she gets it for free. Isenberg refused to name her supplier.

A check of Isenberg’s criminal history shows she has multiple felony level drug convictions, as well as a prior DWI conviction.
