FAIRMONT — Former City Council member Jeff Weber has entered the race for mayor in Fairmont.

Weber filed for the office on Tuesday, the last day for candidates to throw their hats into the ring.

Weber is challenging incumbent Debbie Foster, who won a special election in the fall of 2016 to claim the job.

Two City Council races will be unopposed this year. Incumbent Bruce Peters has filed to retain his Ward 1 job, but faces no opponent. The same is true is in Ward 3, where newcomer Randy Lubenow is running.

At Fairmont Area, meanwhile, there are four candidates seeking three seats on the school board. They are John Gibeau, Rufus Rodriguez, Mike Edman and Martha Myren.
