Welcome reunion slated

WELCOME — The Welcome High School all-class reunion is scheduled 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. June 30 at the Welcome School.

Alumni will gather to reminisce with former classmates and visit the memorabilia corridor, where a variety of items will be available for purchase. Items include aerial photos of the original school grounds and Welcome High School all-class yearbooks.

Those who would like to visit the Welcome Historical Society Museum during the weekend may call (507) 236-2034 to set up an appointment.

The doors to the school will open at 11 a.m., with self-guided tours throughout the buildings.

Anyone interested in participating in the alumni choir is asked to meet in the high school gym at 1 p.m. for practice.

The program, with a tribute to veterans, begins at 3 p.m. in the old gym. It will feature a song performed by members of the former high school group “Livin’ Folk.”

To add a touch of school spirit, a Welcome Wildcat wall light will go to the highest bidder in an auction during the program.

A catered dinner will be served 4:30-6:30 p.m., also in the old gym, with no prior reservations required. A dance follows from 7-10:30 p.m., with music by Galaxy.

The Welcome Fire Department will host a breakfast from 8-11:30 a.m. July 1, also in the old gym. The public is invited. Cost is a donation. Proceeds from the breakfast will go toward purchase of turnout gear and airpacks for the fire department.

The school building has an elevator with handicap accessibility and air conditioning in the old gym for the program, dinner, dance and breakfast.
