Truman pool opens on Saturday

TRUMAN — If your child will be in grades K-12 and would like to be in the summer volleyball camp led by the Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks, registration and payment are due Friday. Friday is the deadline to register for the First Aid/CPR class to be held Wednesday. The cost is $20 and the instructor is Sheila Denton. To register, call Truman Community Education at (507) 327-6917 or email studerc@truman.k112.mn.us

Truman Swimming Pool opens at 1 p.m. Saturday. The pool hours are 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. every day.

Open swim for all day is $3.50. Children 2 years and under get in for free. An individual pass for the season is $75 and a family pass is $140. Every Sunday is Grandparents Day for $2 per grandparent. Family Fridays are $10. Every Tuesday, daycare kids can swim for $2.

Bring your floaties every Wednesday evening. Floaties can also be used Friday afternoons.

American Red Cross bloodmobile will be in Truman from 12:30-6 p.m. Monday at the Truman Community Building. To make an appointment, call Yvonne at (507) 776-8555 or sign up at www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code TRUMANMN.

Truman City Council meets 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

Relay for Life committee and team captains meet 5:30 p.m. Monday in the main classroom at Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont.

Children can stop by their Martin County Library the first week of June and receive a free paperback book to keep.

Also, with every item they check out, they will have a chance to win a “Rock Star Reader” surprise.

Each Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Truman Library is summer story time called “Libraries Rock,” with a craft to follow. These story times are free and everyone is welcome.

Truman Library is open from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Noah’s Ark Adventure Vacation Bible School at Truman Church of Christ invites all children, age 4 through those entering sixth grade, to join them from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 4-8.

Learn about Noah, his family and the animals on the ark. You will enjoy lessons, crafts and refreshments each evening. The church is located at 401 W. Ciro St. in Truman. To register, call (507) 776-2871.

Creative Spirits is going to be at Truman Public School 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to paint “Dance of the Wildflowers.”

Truman Pride meets 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Please consider helping/volunteering to help this group that does so many fun events and fundraisers that benefit Truman Public School.

You could help at one event or with many. Any help will be appreciated. You do not need to have a school-aged child to be involved.

Wednesday is recycling day. Please break down all cardboard boxes and put them into the recycling container. Also be sure to remove your recycling container off of the street when it is empty.

Prairieland Solid Waste Facility in Truman is accepting household hazardous waste products, appliances and electronics from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday in June.

Household hazardous waste materials are free while appliances and electronics can be dropped off for $15 each.

Large quantities of farm chemicals for disposal are by appointment only.
