St. Peter man faces stolen vehicle count

SHERBURN — A St. Peter man is facing felony charges in Martin County.

Adam Hunter Pattishall, 18, has been charged with burglary in the second degree, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Pattishall also has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On May 20, a Sherburn/Welcome police officer received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the 300 block of Fox Lake Avenue in Sherburn. A woman said she left her apartment that morning to water her flowers and let her dog out and that is when she noticed her vehicle was gone.

The woman’s vehicle was described as a green, 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The officer was later notified there was a civil dispute in the same building on May 20 involving Pattishall. During the situation, a relative of Pattishall’s advised him he had 24 hours to leave her apartment because he kept stealing from her. Pattishall had made a comment about going to St. Peter to stay with another relative.

The officer contacted the St. Peter Police Department, provided Pattishall’s name and asked if police there could check the area around the residence of his relative.

The officer was later contacted by a St. Peter police officer, who indicated he was with the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the relative’s apartment complex. The St. Peter officer said he made contact with the relative, who advised that Pattishall had arrived sometime between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. May 20.

The St. Peter officer later made contact with Pattishall and asked for the keys to the stolen vehicle, which Pattishall provided. Pattishall was then taken to the St. Peter Police Department and placed on speakerphone with the Sherburn/Welcome officer. Pattishall was read his rights and agreed to answer questions. When asked what happened May 20, Pattishall said he took the vehicle because he had 24 hours to be out of his relative’s apartment and he did not know what else to do. Pattishall said he entered the woman’s apartment because he knew she was outside.
