School reunion is June 30

WELCOME — Welcome Legion Auxiliary will meet 7 p.m. Monday at the Legion. All members are urged to attend. They will discuss plans for the Memorial Day Program.

The Memorial Day Program will be 9 a.m. May 28 in the old gym at the Welcome School building. The speaker will be Lenny Tvedten from the Martin County Historical Society. Plan to attend.

Coffee hours in May continue from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good brew, goodies and great fellowship.

There will be a Relay for Life fundraiser featuring a beef commercial supper and cookie walk from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Eagles Club at 1228 W. Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Proceeds will go to the Martin County Relay for Life team, Swenson’s Steppers.

Sounds like delicious food for a good cause.

Upcoming events include:

o Welcome Museum will be open 2-4 p.m. June 2.

o There will be a Relay for Life survivor supper and program 5 p.m. June 7 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont, with a quilt raffle and meal for survivors. Caregivers cost will be a free will donation. RSVP by calling Torie at (507) 399-3667.

o Remember there are two fundraisers through Valero in Welcome at “That’s my Pan” and “Schwans-Cares,” which runs through June.

o Welcome All-School Reunion is scheduled for June 30 in the old gym at the Welcome School building. Please spread the word since some invitations were not seen.

Lots of activities are planned with a dance, banquet and special program, and, on July 1, a special pancake breakfast by the Welcome firefighters will be held.

City of Welcome would like to remind residents to only discharge their sump pumps into the street/lawn and not to discharge them into the sanitary sewer.

And, the city clerk is the one to call for reservations of any parks/shelter house in Welcome. Please call City Hall at (507) 728-8740.
