WELCOME — There will be a cribbage tournament beginning 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the Welcome Legion. All those interested are welcome to attend. This will be the last tournament this year until November. Join them for fun and fellowship.

Midweek Lenten services will continue Wednesday with the Circle of Faith congregations meeting for a meal at 5:15 p.m., followed by a service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will have Bible class at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Welcome Fire Department Relief Association will sponsor its annual fundraiser dance March 24 at the Welcome Legion. Featured this year are two area entertainers, Steve Lang and Twisted Sisters.

Steve and Bob Petrowiak will present country music from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., while sisters Cara and Bridget will entertain from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

There is a suggested donation of $5 per person but, of course, a donation for more would be appreciated. If you’re not able to attend the dance but would like to donate to this worthy cause, mail donations to Welcome Fire Dept. Relief Association at Box 373, Welcome, MN 56181.

Welcome citizens can be proud of the fire department, which is one of the top responders in the state. Firefighters volunteer time at the Martin County Fair, Martin County West gymnastics and the Summer Festival. They are called out at any time, as they were this last weekend. They respond to 60 to 80 calls per year.

Many firefighters have jobs and would like to thank their employers for allowing them time for emergency responding.

Thank you for your service to our community.

Have fun and contribute to a good cause at the Welcome Fire Department Dance on March 24.
