Man facing felony charge

FAIRMONT — A Fairmont man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Blake Louis Bangsund, 31, has been charged with making threats of violence, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the report:

At 4:32 p.m. March 2, Martin County dispatch received a call stating that two males were fighting at an apartment building in Fairmont. Two Fairmont police officers responded. Upon entering the building, the officers observed a male, later identified as Bangsund, standing in the doorway.

Bangsund began walking into the apartment and the officers noticed he had multiple bloody cuts and scratches on his face. They also noticed a rug with blood on it outside the apartment, as well as blood leading into the apartment.

Bangsund was asked to come out so officers could talk to him.

Bangsund was asked what was going on, and he said nothing, and that he and the other person were friends. One of the officers asked him about the scratches and cuts on his head, and Bangsund did not believe there were any. The officer then showed Bangsund a photo of his injuries.

As the officer talked to Bangsund, he noticed that Bangsund’s words were slurred, he had glassy eyes and he smelled of alcohol. The officer asked if he was on probation, and Bangsund said he was. The officer checked with dispatch, which advised that Bangsund was no longer on probation.

The other officer exited an apartment and advised that the other male party to the fight did not want to press charges. The officer determined that Bangsund was too intoxicated to be left alone and should be transported to Brown County Evaluation Center.

Bangsund was transported to the Martin County Law Enforcement Center where he was held, waiting for transportation to bring him to detox. While waiting, Bangsund made numerous comments to the officer that made the officer concerned for his safety and well-being. Bangsund was extremely verbal and agitated, screaming and calling the officer names. Bangsund also made numerous profane comments about wanting the officer dead.

During his wait to be transported, Bangsund admitted he had punched the other man in the face.
