Fairmont UMC to sponsor Mitten Tree

Fairmont United Methodist Church located at 119 E. 2nd Street in Fairmont is sponsoring a Mitten Tree. Bring your donations of new or handmade hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to the church and hang them on the Mitten Tree, located inside the front entry doors at the church. New and gently-used children’s jackets will also be accepted. Items on the Mitten Tree are available to anyone in our community who is in need. If you or someone in your family need any of these items, please come to the church and choose the item(s) you need. The Mitten Tree will be available 9-11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from Dec. 1 to Dec. 23. Consider giving the gift of warmth this holiday season.

Food distribution Tuesday in Fairmont

Heavens Table Food Shelf in coordination with Second Harvest Heartland will be providing a free emergency food distribution to the residents of Martin County. This is an effort again by the USDA to connect farm fresh product with families that have a need. The distribution will be held 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Martin County Fairgrounds while supplies last. Please enter the grounds at the south entrance by the arena (not the racetrack), exit on the north side of the arena. You will receive a box containing produce, dairy and protein products plus a gallon of milk. They would prefer a limit of 2 families per car, with a representative of each family in the car. They will collect data of the ages of family members only. This distribution is open to the public and is free to all who attend.
