Early Risers to meet Wednesday

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. The program will feature Sonja Fortune, director of Red Rock Center for the Arts in Fairmont. She will provide updates and answer questions. The public is invited.

CREST to offer pillow cleaning

CREST will host Carlson Pillow Cleaning Service from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave., Fairmont. Pillows will be fluffed, cleaned, deodorized and sanitized while customers wait, or people may come back to pick up pillows later in the day. The service includes new ticking for pillows. Custom-made new pillows and down comforters will be available for sale. Because of COVID-19, social distancing will be practiced and masks are required. Participants are asked to bring pillows in garbage bags. Ceaned pillows will be placed in a new bag when finished. All proceeds from this event will benefit the CREST organization. Ruby’s Pantry to resume in East Chain

Ruby’s Pantry will host a food distribution from 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday in East Chain at East Chain Evangelical Free Church, 507 280th Ave. This will be conducted in a drive-through process. Participants will not have to get out of their cars. Participants are asked to clean out the trunk of their vehicle prior to the event. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by a $20 cash donation per participant for operational costs. Participants are asked to bring two large boxes or laundry baskets for food. Kayak group to meet today

Holding on to Summer Paddlers will meet 6 p.m. today at the launch at Gomsrud Park in Fairmont. Anyone with questions about the group may contact Char Kahler at (507) 236-4606.

Nuss benefit slated Saturday

A benefit for Scott Nuss will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Fairmont Body Shop, 1013 Winnebago Ave., in Fairmont. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided. Donations accepted. Nuss was involved in a recent motocross accident. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, small brain bleed, fractured sinus cavity, fractured jaw, broken neck, broken spine and broken rib. All donations will assist the Nuss family.
