MCW pool accepting registrations for lessons

MCW indoor swimming pool in Sherburn is now accepting registrations for spring swimming lessons. Registration forms can be picked up at any MCW school office. For information, contact elizabethviesselman@mcwmavericks.org.

St. James Lutheran to sponsor Sunday brunch

Board of Christian Education from St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop will sponsor a pancake brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall at the church located at 108 S. James St., in Northrop. They will serve pancakes (will also have gluten-free pancakes), sausage patty, applesauce and beverages. They are asking a free-will donation. Proceeds will go toward tuition angel fund at St. James Lutheran School. Everyone is invited.

Martin Luther plans winter carnival this Sunday

To help kick off National Lutheran Schools Week, the student council and National Honor Society students of Martin Luther High School will sponsor a children’s winter carnival from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the high school in Northrop. This event is for children ages 3 and up. The cost is $5 per child or $15 per family. Parents get in for free. They will have carnival games and prizes, a bouncy house, nerf gun wars, bake sale, snacks, parent lounge and a toddler room. All are invited to attend.

Joshua Lindquist of Fairmont was awarded a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences, and Adam Brandt of Swea City was awarded a bachelor’s degree in agricultural studies during commencement ceremonies held Dec. 20, 2019, at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

Alexis Lunn of Fairmont was named to the dean’s list for the 2019 fall semester at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa.
