Elmore church slates annual festival

Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore will hold its annual fall festival from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, 108 Jay St., Elmore. Scandinavian specialties, baked goods, quilts and a large variety of miscellaneous items will be for sale. Coffee and goodies will be available beginning at 8 a.m. All are welcome.

League plans Veterans Day supper

Swea City Improvement League and Thrivent will sponsor a traditional Veterans Day turkey supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City. The meal will consist of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry relish, green beans, rolls, dessert and beverages. Take-out meals will be available. Veterans are asked to sign in with service information, dates and rank for recognition at the supper. Proceeds will go toward the Pool Plunge and Swea City Community Foundation. CREST looking for volunteer drivers

CREST is looking for individuals who enjoy driving and have a desire to help people keep their medical appointments, go to the grocery store, attend social engagements and run errands. CREST provides transportation to residents of Martin County who, for a variety of reasons, do not drive or cannot drive any longer. CREST volunteers take those in need to local engagements as well as to out-of-town medical appointments where the volunteer is given a gas card to help with their expenses. Those interested in helping may call the CREST office at (507) 235-3833 and ask for a volunteer application.
