Uptown Kiwanis plans fundraiser

As a club fundraiser for the Kiwanis baseball project, the Fairmont Uptown Kiwanis Club will sell hot dogs, chips, pop and water beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Fairmont Elementary School ball diamonds. In case of rain, the event will be held July 9. Everyone is welcome.

St. James railroad club extends invitation

The non-profit Roundhouse Model Railroad Club, which promotes the model railroad hobby, will be open during Railroad Days from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the club located at 307 Tiell Drive, St. James. Admission is free. The club meets regularly from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays and from 1-7 p.m. Saturdays. Meetings are open to visitors and potential new members. College News

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at Minnesota State University-Moorhead: Fairmont — Alyssa Hovland, Antonio Johnson, Riley Norstrom; Sherburn — Marisa Kittleson.

Derek Meyer of Butterfield was named to the dean’s list and Cejay Ulrich of Jackson was named to the president’s list for the 2019 spring semester at St. Cloud Technical & Community College in St. Cloud.

Conor Barnett of Blue Earth was named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Tracey Edenborg of Ceylon graduated and was awarded a diploma in medical coding and insurance following the 2019 spring semester at Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Nicole Scherer of Sherburn was named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at the University of New England in Maine.
