Lakes Foundation postpones cleanup

Fairmont Lakes Foundation has postponed the lake cleanup scheduled for Saturday because of the high water level. The event has been rescheduled for Aug. 10.

East Chain church plans coffee party

East Chain United Methodist Church will host its monthly community coffee party from 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Rolls, donuts, coffee, tea and juice will be served. Donations accepted. Everyone is welcome.

Methodist church plans meal/bake sale

Hot beef commercials and more will be served 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the lower level at Fairmont United Methodist Church, 119 E. Second St., in Fairmont. They also will serve hot beef on a bun, homemade potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, potato chips, nacho chips and cheese, home-baked bars, coffee, lemonade and bottled water. Take-outs will be available. A bake sale will take place in the dining room at the church. The church is air-conditioned and handicap-accessible. All proceeds support United Methodist Women local and global missions. Everyone is invited.

Play, make and discover at the library

Children, ages 1-5 and an adult, are invited to play, make and discover at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St., Fairmont. Enjoy a variety of educational activities that will help children grow. The program is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. For more information, call the library at (507) 238-4207.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D.: Fairmont — Logyn Cone; Jackson — Austin Nunez; St. James — Elizabeth Reckow; Truman — Cole Spear.

Lucas Determan of Blue Earth was named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich.

Jacob Kallenbach of Fairmont and Lindsey Miles of Truman were named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
