Kids fishing derby slated for Saturday

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont and Bass Seekers Chapter of Fairmont will sponsor a Kid’s All-American Fishing Derby and Casting Contest for kids, ages 5-16 (accompanied by an adult), this Saturday at Gomsrud Park, Fairmont. Registration will begin 8:30 a.m., with the fishing contest and casting contest planned 9 a.m. to noon. Prizes by area business donors will be awarded. The event is meant to encourage area youth to have fun and enjoy fishing.

College News

The following area students received degrees and honors during graduation ceremonies held May 11 at Minnesota State University, Mankato: Truman — Aubrey Clay, bachelor’s degree in applied organizational studies; Winnebago — Kyle Mercer, bachelor’s degree in biology: biomedical sciences (cum laude), Max Nagel, bachelor’s degree in computer information technology.

Kelsey Traetow of Welcome was awarded a Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy during a 2019 spring commencement held May 11 for St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
