Middle School Day set for Friday

On Friday, Blue Earth Area middle-schoolers and the eighth grade will be involved in a day of service learning in Faribault County. Morning Meeting groups and homerooms will visit towns and parks in the county, completing projects. Some examples are painting picnic tables, planting flower planters, cleaning shelters and clearing brush.

Ceylon selling library books

Ceylon City Hall will host a sale of Ceylon Library books available from 8-11 a.m. Saturday. Books are usually 25 cents each, but there are also a few antique books available.

Lunch & Learn event set for Monday

A “Lunch & Learn” event sponsored by CREST will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 102 N. Park St., in Fairmont. This month’s topic will be a presentation on Dementia Friends. A lasagna lunch will follow the program, with donations accepted to defray expenses. Anyone from the area is welcome to attend the presentation and lunch. RSVP by calling the CREST at (507) 235-3833.

Veterans benefits seminar planned

A veterans benefits seminar will be held 2 p.m. May 16 at the American Legion in St. James. Presentations will include: veterans burial benefits, Minnesota Veterans Home, emergency care outside the VA, veterans choice/care in the community and the St. James VA clinic. For more information, call Watonwan County Veterans Services at (507) 375-1254. All area veterans are welcome to attend.

College News

Rebekah Rusert of Truman graduated and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in education during a commencement ceremony held May 4 at Concordia University in Seward, Neb.
